Bellevue Mayor Chelminiak will not recuse himself from the appeal hearing
BIG NEWS – Bellevue Mayor Chelminiak just notified CENSE that he will not recuse himself from the appeal hearing. In his explanation, Chelminiak stated, “I have had no involvement in the decisions concerning the content or timing of materials posted on the City’s web site about this matter. Those decisions were made by administrative departments within the City.”
In other words, the mayor and the city council take no responsibility or oversight role in how the City communicates with its citizens. If there is biased or inaccurate information on the web site, “not our problem!”
Where then are citizens supposed to go for unbiased information about a major project that will affect many neighborhoods and future generations?
For voters who have been asking for more transparency and accountability from their city government, this is a sad day.
